I found my Mister, but I still need my Sister…Will you be my bridesmaid?
We all want to think of the most unique and memorable ways to ask our lovely ladies “will you be my bridesmaid?” something to treasure forever and celebrate your friendship. There are lots inspirational ideas out there of fun, adventurous, sentimental and even humorous ways of asking your nearest and dearest ladies to stand by your side as your bridesmaid at your wedding! We have put together a few of our favourite ideas for you to consider… Whether you want a simple gesture or a grand ‘maid of honour’ proposal we’ve got you covered!
- Personalised jewellery
A simple classic that will never get old, a timeless piece of jewellery to ask your ladies the all important question will be something they can get the most use out of. You could use a ‘save the date necklace’ or give a more traditional piece of jewellery with the crucial question behind it, like these gorgeous little gold bracelets below.
- Personalised letters
Nothing says personal like a card!! Letters and posters can be combined with other gifts, trinkets and gestures, however I feel a personalised letter or card is the most sentimental. A pretty card like this floral one below is a beautiful little gesture for your maids to keep forever. (P.S Check out our range of ‘thank you for being my bridesmaid’ cards in our boutique, they are stunning! – See our Facebook for details & pictures ).
Maybe you want something a little less serious, where you can embrace the funny and humorous side of your friendship? I personally love this light-hearted idea, especially the idea of asking your bridesmaid to complete your #squadgoals at your wedding! Maybe even an SOS bridesmaid emergency box of things to prevent any wedding disasters (i.e. a sewing kit!).
- Box of surprises- memories & goodies
A beautiful trinket or jewellery box like this would be a perfect addition to any dressing table! Fill it with old memories, photographs, sweets, treats and goodies for the ultimate gift. It’s also a good idea to make up a little ‘pampering box’- possibly gather all the bridesmaid for a girly night in with a bottle of wine and beauty products then present them with a little box like seen below! It does require a little more effort and some DIY, however it is a lovely gesture and something they will certainly remember!
Small keepsakes that are personal to your bridesmaid in my eyes- are ALWAYS a good idea. If she loves candles why not get her a personalised one? Small intimate gifts like this can go a long way. Cute little trinkets can be added into a box of goodies, as mentioned, or given on their own as a small gesture- perfect for on a budget! There is also the option of personalising a lovely plaque or which can you can fit those thoughtful little poem verses in- sure to bring a few tears!
A shared love of food? Why not ask through baking a cake or some cookies! The homemade aspect gives that personal, memorable touch. And let’s be honest, who could say no to cake and cookies? Although this gesture can’t be kept forever it’s the cutest little idea!
- Surprise adventures
What better way to make the ultimate bridesmaid ‘proposal’ than taking your girls (or just maid of honour- if on a budget!) out on a surprise adventure, to show them how much they mean to you. Ideas like a trip to the spa for some beauty treatments, an afternoon tea, a picnic or even just a fun road trip adventure- something unique to your friendship and what you like doing together most.
These are just a few examples of ways to ask ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’, recently engaged myself I will definitely be using some of these ideas ! **TIP**

2015 Sample Sale
We don’t have Sample Sales very often at Ivory & Pearl, so now is your chance to get a couture wedding gown at a fantastic price. This Sunday, 15th February 2015 we are having a Sample Sale from 1pm – 4pm. Please note there is no appointment necessary, however, it might be a little crazy on the day and it will not be like our normal appointments which are private and individual. Here is a little insight on how to make the most out of a Sample Sale.
1. If you have never tried on wedding gowns before, a Sample Sale might not be for you. The wedding dresses we have this Sunday are priced to sell, so knowing what you’re looking for and what looks good on you is extremely important.
2. Our samples range from size 10 – 14, although dresses can be brought in 1-2 sizes depending on the gown.
3. It’s important to bring with you someone who’s opinion you value and trust, be that your mum or BFF, as once the wedding dresses are gone, there is no way to get them back or order them. Unfortunately we can’t hold any gowns over, so having someone who knows your personal style best to help you make a quick decision is important.
4. If you are a bride on a budget, have a tight deadline, then a Sample Sale is definitely for you!
Please note that although we keep our wedding gowns in immaculate condition, a few of them do need a little extra TLC, such as a dry clean, however, they have been priced accordingly. Don’t let this put you off though, as we can recommend dry cleaners who we use personally and recommend our dress maker to make it “your” dream dress.
On Sunday, we will have a rail in which all gowns are £500 or less, other gowns up to 70% off and even some 2015 gowns priced up to 30% off. We won’t have the final decision as to what gowns are going into our Sample Sale until the morning of the sale.
We have over 40 dresses in our Sample Sale so we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Lime Park Photo Shoot
My o My, Lime Park is one of the most beautiful venues E.V.E.R, it really is a labour of love by Shelly and her brother, as they have devoted so much of their time to it, from the watering can tap (see photo below), to the hand made light bulbs, outdoor ceremony area, outdoor swing, this venue really is amazing. Shelly is so lovely, and the brides in the boutique can’t talk any more highly of her service!
Last year, I got involved in a photo shoot at Lime Park, to be honest though, I was a little over my head, this was the first time I had ever been involved in a photo shoot and I thought that you just find models, dresses, suits and *Wham Bam* the photographer takes the shots and they’re amazing… how wrong was I! Now I know, the endless hours that go into researching, getting the right look, keeping the theme throughout, the numerous Secret Pinterest Boards, and then of course, the staging, makeup artists, hair stylists, florists, photographers, editing, transportation to the venue, and then taking it all down, going home and sleeping for a week. Really, these photo shoots, take hours, days.. and thankfully I’ve become a lot better at contributing!
This shoot really did blow my mind, from seeing Lime Park for the first time, the styling by Mel at Mood Events and Grace from Grace & Saviour, and then seeing the final images from Ria at Creative Flux. She was actually ill on the day, so her partner, Paul (who isn’t even a photographer) captured the shots, with Ria later editing them.. he did such a smashing job!
The two shots I really love, are the watering can tap (of course) and Shelly’s car.. see below.. that is her actual car, and the wee photo of some of the team!!!
